Homeless and Others to be Helped by New Non-Profit Organization Guide
The Chicago Reader and the Executive Service Corps Team Up to Compile an Awesome List of Chicagoland NPO Websites
Great News!
The Reader has just published an important guide for persons working with and looking for a huge variety of non-profit organizations (NPOs) in Chicago. In cooperation with the Executive Service Corps (www.SupportESC.org), the Reader staff compiled the names of the NPOs. The November 24, 2021, issue houses the online and paper versions of the guide.
The list includes NPOs organized in eight categories:
Foundations & Capacity Building
Social Enterprise, NPO Business, & Coop Business
Ranging from Inspiration Corporation to Franciscan Outreach, and from SEIU Healthcare to the Chinese Mutual Aid Association, the list has been needed for a good long time indeed. The page to access the online version is: https://chicagoreader.com/reader/nonprofit-guide/home-categories-index/
There is also a 24-page paper version found in the middle of the hardcopy edition. The Reader can be found all over the city (https://chicagoreader.com/reader/print-distribution-map/).
The guide can be downloaded from the site in pdf format also (https://chicagoreader.com/reader/print-distribution-map/).
Examples of NPOs helpful for persons working with, for, and around homeless persons and other people in need are: Connections for the Homeless and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
According to the Reader, “Launched with the publication of our Nonprofit Issue, this guide will be updated several times a year, with more information and eventually a searchable database.”
Homeless people, researchers, writers, social workers, community organizers, students of sociology, and business partners will all finally have an excellent and up-to-date way to access these websites without all the searching — and the need to try to remember the exact name of the entity.
Thank you Chicago Reader staff and leaders! This will be a very valuable resource indeed!
