Check this out! So far a dozen Republican US Senators who might vote “NO” on the big ugly bill
There is hope! Encourage them to vote “NO!”
The following twelve Republican US Senators have indicated they will most likely vote “NO” on the big ugly bill—especially if there are not some major acceptable revisions to the House version
It is assumed all the Democrats will vote “NO.”
The bill reduces SNAP-LINK food coverage, threatens Medicaid, adds work requirements, complicates and threatens funds for fair housing, raises the deficit into the heavens, complicates and threatens funds for social security eligibility, and makes poor families pay higher taxes while allowing the rich to pay less. These are just a few of the worst aspects of the bill the US House passed.
Here are the twelve Republican US Senators who say they will vote “NO” to the big hatred bill as it stands:
1. Mike Crapo (ID) unhappy about the work requirements
2. Sue Collins (ME) centrist, is worried about damage to healthcare
3. Lisa Murkowski (AK) worried about damage to healthcare
4. Jerry Moran (KS) worried about the healthcare damage
5. Jim Justice (WV) worried about the damage to healthcare
6. Josh Hawley (MO) conservative, concerned about fiscal issues
7. Rand Paul (KY) worried about fiscal issues
8. Ron Johnson (WI) fiscal issues
9. Kevin Kramer (ND) provider tax details
10. Mike Lee (UT) fiscal issues
11. John Curtis (UT) clean energy provisions and fiscal issues
12. Thom Tillis (NC) the axing of energy tax incentives.
Contacting these Senators and encouraging them to in fact vote “NO” is your right!
Urging them to heavily revise the bill—or create a brand new Senate version—is your duty!
There is still time to turn this all around. Don’t let Congress destroy Medicaid and SNAP and other programs. Don’t let them give huge tax breaks to the rich and place big burdens on the poor.
Where are the homeless in all of the above? Taking money away from HUD and other agencies meant to help the homeless does nothing to help the unhoused—and other important programs like Medicaid and SNAP make life much harder—and more dangerous—for the homeless.
Living on the street, or in a shelter, or in an abandoned car, the unhoused need as much support as possible. Other Americans need assistance too. The bill as it stands would threaten, destroy, defeat, and detract. Don’t let that happen!
Don’t let Congress tear apart even more of the American programs that are sorely needed!
